He has been State Director of the Texas Restaurant  Assoc. as well as a member of the President’s Council and Political Action Committee. <p>The Texas Tribune is a nonpartisan, nonprofit media organization that  promotes civic engagement and discourse on public policy, politics,  government and other matters of statewide concern. Our vision is to  serve the journalism community as a source of innovation and to build  the next great public media brand in the United States.</p>
<p>A major focus of the Tribune is the production of on-the-record,  open-to-the-public events. These events are an extension of our  editorial content and, while sponsored, have the same editorial  integrity as our journalism. Our current events program includes a  conversation series featuring elected officials and other newsmakers;  The Texas Tribune Festival, a two-day event taking place on the  University of Texas campus; a series of one-day symposiums on a single  topic; regular events in smaller markets featuring local legislators;  and other mission-related educational and social events.</p>
<p>We are looking for a dynamic, responsible individual to join our  events team on a full-time basis. The candidate must be a self-starter  who is able to juggle many projects simultaneously. Responsibilities  include working very closely with the director of events and the  Tribune&#8217;s editor-in-chief on projects, large and small; event planning,  production and on-site execution; working with speaker representatives  for scheduling and logistics; managing speakers on-site; copywriting and  editing; and management of contacts, lists and RSVPs.</p>
<p>Required: some event production experience; strong writing skills;  detail oriented and big-picture thinking; commitment to getting the job  done correctly on schedule; cool under pressure; able to work well with  others; willing to travel occasionally throughout Texas; must be able to  work some flexible hours. Knowledge of Texas politics and policy a  plus.</p>
