Let’s Celebrate with a Membership Drive

This coming Tuesday, May 22 ISES Austin will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ISES International with a big ole birthday party.

Throw on some sneakers and head out to Stunt Ranch for an evening filled with fun, margaritas, zip lines, music, mime, networking, trapeze artists and so much more.

Don’t feel like driving? No problem. Meet us at the County Line Headquarters at 5pm. and take a complimentary shuttle courtesy of R&R Limousine.

Once you arrive, enjoy the reggae soundsof the Bustamoovalators as you sip on deliious cocktail and munch on food courtesy of Austin Beer Works and Pappas Catering.

Then get ready for the real fun. The ISES Austin Ropes Course. This course will giv eyou everything you need to know about joining ISES and how it will benefit your career and/or business.

We will end the night with a BANG! and of course presents for all those who join ISES Austin that night.

Hey friends, we all know that being eco friendly isn’t just about loving animals and replanting your event’s succulent center pieces! Join us at Embassy Suites in San Marcos, TX at as we “Talk Trash…in a good way”. You will Learn 10 new ways to be green with your events, your business decisions and your lifestyle.

Attendees will take away some amazing insight on how small businesses like Fluerish Austin are super eco savvy and successful. Fleurish Austin was founded two years ago by senior designer Ruth Weinheimer. After several years of working in the corporate event marketing industry as the “green queen” consultant for IBM, she followed her passion for design & events to start her own eco-friendly floral company.

Skeeter will share how his restaurant The County Line on the Lake in Austin has participated as a test restaurant for the City of Austin’s Resource Recovery Program. Learn how Skeeter stepped in 3 years ago and helped educate the City on restaurant operations and waste management. Skeeter will update us all on the City’s mandates and why it’s important to vote and get involved. Skeeter Miller oversees 9 restaurants in 2 states with over 1200 employees. He has been State Director of the Texas Restaurant Assoc. as well as a member of the President’s Council and Political Action Committee. He is currently the Greater Austin Restaurant Association’s 2012-2013 President Elect.

Austin chapter for the next 12 months, beginning on July 1, 2012.

In accordance with our Bylaws and election guidelines, the Nominating Committee sends this “Call for Nominations” and Application to you to encourage you to nominate for consideration any individual who you feel
would be an asset to ISES Austin in a leadership position.

The Texas Tribune is a nonpartisan, nonprofit media organization that promotes civic engagement and discourse on public policy, politics, government and other matters of statewide concern. Our vision is to serve the journalism community as a source of innovation and to build the next great public media brand in the United States.

A major focus of the Tribune is the production of on-the-record, open-to-the-public events. These events are an extension of our editorial content and, while sponsored, have the same editorial integrity as our journalism. Our current events program includes a conversation series featuring elected officials and other newsmakers; The Texas Tribune Festival, a two-day event taking place on the University of Texas campus; a series of one-day symposiums on a single topic; regular events in smaller markets featuring local legislators; and other mission-related educational and social events.

We are looking for a dynamic, responsible individual to join our events team on a full-time basis. The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to juggle many projects simultaneously. Responsibilities include working very closely with the director of events and the Tribune’s editor-in-chief on projects, large and small; event planning, production and on-site execution; working with speaker representatives for scheduling and logistics; managing speakers on-site; copywriting and editing; and management of contacts, lists and RSVPs.

Required: some event production experience; strong writing skills; detail oriented and big-picture thinking; commitment to getting the job done correctly on schedule; cool under pressure; able to work well with others; willing to travel occasionally throughout Texas; must be able to work some flexible hours. Knowledge of Texas politics and policy a plus.
